Polar Bears under the Northern Lights mugs has two panels of the adult polar bears looking up at the the northern lights with the lights reflections in the open water of the Arctic Ocean, the panels were hand painted with underglazes.  To complete the wall of the mug there are two panels of the three polar bear.  Inside the mug and around the panels the mug was painted with four different layers of glazes to get the illusion of the northern lights.  
 
This is a slab created mug which means I hand rolled the clay into a slab then cut out the wall of the mug. Then I designed the wall with a roller print and stamps to embed them into the clay. After drying to leather hardness pulled the handle and created the thumb button. After the bisque firing I scrubbed the outside wall of the mug with an underglaze after I hand printed the Northern lights with their reflections on the open Arctic Ocean with the two polar bears watching the lights dance across the night sky and the panels of the three baby polar bears. 
Mug is microwave and dishwasher safe.
