This is a slab created mug which means I hand rolled the clay into a slab then cut out the wall of the mug. Then I designed the wall with a roller print 3D stamp of a photo I took of 399 and her babies May of 2020,  to embed them into the clay. After drying to leather hardness I pulled the handle and created the thumb button. After bisque fired I scrub the outside wall of the mug then hand paint the stamp and tracks.  The rim and handle is an blue glaze and half way inside the mug I painted a river birch glaze followed by an earth green.

That was one amazing day in the park watching her with her four babies or course I wasn't alone, lots of bear watchers and photographers. In 2020 I had lots of time on my hands and I spent a lot of days in the park watching 399 and her family some of the best bear watching in the lower 48.
